About Legal Directives

Legal Directives is a membership management platform that ensures healthcare directives are accessible when they are needed most. It provides nonprofits, organizations, and individuals with digital membership cards, enabling immediate access to crucial healthcare documents such as Health Care Power of Attorney, Living Wills, HIPAA Authorizations, and emergency contact information, while also facilitating member enrollments and renewals.

As part of their operations, sponsors play a critical role in enrolling new members and ensuring that the relevant documents are managed effectively on behalf of the members. However, the existing system was over a decade old, leading to challenges in performance, user experience, and outdated workflows.

The Challenge

Legal Directives needed a modern solution to replace their outdated platform. The previous system had limitations in managing large volumes of membership data, lacked modern technology support, and required manual workarounds to process cards, documents, and sponsor enrollments. Additionally, the user experience was outdated, impacting the efficiency of LD Staff, members, and sponsors.

Legal Directives sought a complete redesign and modernization of the platform to enhance system workflows, update the technology stack, and provide better support for nonprofits, sponsors, and individuals relying on critical healthcare directives in emergencies. The new solution needed to streamline the entire membership lifecycle, from enrollment and document handling to billing and renewals.

Our UI/UX team redesigned the platform with a modern and intuitive interface to meet the needs of LD Staff, sponsors, and members. We prioritized improving navigation and making the platform accessible and responsive across all devices. The user interface was designed to simplify onboarding, membership renewals, and document management.

Development

The development team worked on building a feature-rich membership management system that included an admin portal, sponsor portal, and member portal. We incorporated features such as user authentication, profile management, billing and payment integration (Stripe), document management, and card generation. Special attention was given to automating repetitive tasks, improving data management, and providing real-time updates.

The Solution

We redesigned and rebuilt the Legal Directives membership management platform from the ground up, ensuring that healthcare directives are readily accessible in emergencies while modernizing its technology stack and improving overall system performance. The new solution features an intuitive admin panel that allows LD Staff to manage members, sponsors, billing, and document handling efficiently.

The sponsor portal supports sponsors in enrolling new members and managing sponsorship details. Sponsors can easily add new members, track pending payments, and manage their billing information. The member portal allows members to update personal information, manage emergency contacts, renew memberships, and view digital copies of their membership cards.

The platform includes enhanced automation features such as automated card printing, document faxing, and membership renewal reminders. By integrating third-party services like Stripe for billing and Documo for faxing, we ensured seamless processing of payments and document management.

Results

The redesigned Legal Directives platform has significantly improved the efficiency of membership management, reducing manual workloads and streamlining the enrollment and renewal processes. LD Staff can now manage members and sponsors with ease, and sponsors have an improved experience enrolling members and handling payments. The member portal offers a seamless user experience, allowing members to access their information and manage renewals more conveniently.
