IndyGo allows you to find out what’s going on in cities all over the Triangle every day of the week. You can buy tickets for shows right inside the app, and enjoy the area’s most comprehensive listing of everything from food specials to concert schedules, art openings to sporting events.

There’s even a GPS locator included in this app, along with a texting function that allows you to instantly invite your friends with you to enjoy some time out on the town. Highly rated and easy to use, IndyGo brings all of the great information you find in IndyWeek to the app world, plus a whole lot more.

  1. Bike Raleigh

The City of Raleigh has put together this power packed app to allow people to navigate the city safely and easily on two wheels. On Bike Raleigh, you’ll find here tons of information for both on-road and off-road biking. Find out where to park your bike, which repair shops are nearby and the best bike routes in the city. The maps within the app are detailed and easy to use, even if you’re on the go.

If all of this incredible information doesn’t get you excited about hopping on your bike, then the discounts at local businesses that are available through the Bicycle Benefits program just might. The app shows you a map of where to find participating dining and services locations around the city.

  1. WRAL Out & About

WRAL may be a local news organization, but the WRAL Out & About app is all about participating in great local culture and entertainment. This free app guides you to exploring nightlife, events, dining and more throughout the Triangle. You’ll find concert dates, festivals, images, restaurant listings and so much more. Included are all the major cities in the Triangle – Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, and more. The editors compile lists of the top food, events, and drinks in the area in the Best Bets section. You can even find movie times. All of the information is based on your current location using GPS, which makes this app perfect for those spontaneous nights out. There’s even a map section complete with driving directions.

WRAL Out & About is one of the most comprehensive event planning apps available for the area, with a versatility and ease of use that’s hard to match. The information is detailed, and the user ratings and Party Pics allow you to see what other people are saying about local businesses and events.

  1. RGreenway

For something a little more low key, try the RGreenway app. This app allows you to check out all the greenway trails not only in Raleigh, but in all of the surrounding areas. You’ll find what trails area nearby, where they end up, what kind of parking is available, and even whether the greenway is paved or unpaved. You’ll even be able to tell where water fountains and restrooms are along the way. Track your progress along the route and never get lost again!

The best part about this app is that it encourages users to get up and get outside. Raleigh and the surrounding areas have some amazing greenways, but people just don’t take advantage of them the way that they should or could. RGreenway is a perfect way to help you get out into the sunshine.

If you want an amazing curated guide to everything that’s going on in the Triangle, you’ve come to the right place with Raleigh Offline. The app covers the entire Raleigh area, including nearby towns like Apex and Cary. It works like a social media newsfeed, packed with images, suggestions for events, and experiences that you can partake in when you’re out and about downtown. The Weekender feature allows you to plan how you’re going to spend your weekend. You can also use the Must-Do function to look forward for an entire month. Pick any day and flip through local happenings, then put away your phone and go have some great times “offline”!

  1. ABC11 Raleigh

Staying up to date with the news in the Triangle doesn’t have to be a challenge with the ABC11 app. You’ll get traffic, weather, breaking news, national news, local stories and more. There’s Apple watch integration with this one too. Easy to use and always up to date, the ABC11 app is brimming with local information. This app is great for cord cutters who don’t watch the local news through a cable subscription but who still want to keep abreast of the big stories in the area.

If you’re really focused on local weather, you might try the ABC11 First Alert Weather app. This separate install focuses just on weather, sending alerts for dangerous meteorological events and other weather updates.

  1. DT Raleigh App

The Downtown Raleigh app, created by the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, is dedicated to giving you the best restaurants, attractions, events and logistical info for the center of the city. You’ll find great information on road closures, buses, and parking. Not only that, business hours and weekly specials around town are included along with all the other essential information.

The design is easy to navigate, and the information is updated regularly. The Downtown Raleigh Alliance is a partnership of businesses in the area, and the app allows users to get the most of their time downtown.
